ASU Food Insecurity
A multiple part project that researched ASU online student population and ASU's webpage interface in order to create a more usable site where food insecure student could easily access ASU resources

Students were given the task of researching ways ASU’s current website
either aids in food insecure student’s search in finding food resources
or hinders their search. My group conducted surveys, interviews, and
usability tests with online student's being our target audience.
The results from our studies were articulated into a research report
that included recommendations to fix UX problems found within ASU's
website. We created concept and usage stories to better illustrate the
improvement to the website if the recommended changes were
implemented . Finally, I created a mockup of the newly designed ASU
website with the wireframe program, Balsamiq.
Being in a position of not knowing when your next meal will be is
absolutely terrifying, so being able to provide help for students
searching for food online and making the process much more efficient
was a truly fulfilling experience. I hope to continue to use my
knowledge to help more people struggling to find basic well-being
resources.

01
UX Research and Recommendation for ASU's Food (In)Security Interfaces
A research report was prepared for University Sustainability Practices, Sun Devil Dining, and Student Services which detailed the research and test that were done to measure the usability and effectiveness of two of Arizona State University's Food (In)Security interfaces, the 'Education Outreach and Student Services' and 'Pitchfork Pantry'. Semi-structured interviews, surveys, and usability tests were conducted in order to provide effective recommendations that would make these basic wellbeing interfaces more accessible.
02
Personas: ASU Food Insecure Online Students
Two personas were created based on the results of the user research done in the previous project. These personas took characteristics of the common ASU online part-time student dealing with a lack of food resources.
03
Concept and Usage Stories
Concept and usage stories were created to track the way in which users would access ASU food sources through a conceptualize and an implemented method. These stories were told both visually and verbally in order to communicate the path in the most efficient manner.
04
ASU Interface Mockup
The final project is a newly designed interface prototype that takes the recommendations from the user research and implements them into a visual format, wireframe prototypes. Balsamiq was used to showcase how ASU online students can navigate from their MyASU page straight to a form to fill out when they are in need of food.
